Odisha(Orissa) is located on the shores of Bay of Bengal on the Eastern side of India. The state primarily experience three types of climate, Summer, Monsoon and Winter.
The summer season starts in the state from the month of April and goes on till June. Its proximity to the Chotanagpur plateaus brings in the heat waves and the scorching heat. The temperature goes up till 40 degrees. A trip to Odisha(Orissa) during these months is not advisable as the movements during the days are expected to be restricted and most of the places of tourist interests are closed after evening.
The monsoons outbreak in Odisha(Orissa) from mid June and continues till September. The state experiences heavy rainfall at this time. Most of the sanctuaries are closed during this period and moreover the island sanctuaries like Bhitarkanika or Chilka might not be accessible due to overflow of water.
The winters begin from the month of December and continue till February; however the climate remains pleasant for tourists from October. The preferred period to visit Odisha(Orissa) is between October to March. The bright sunny mornings of these months brings out the predators like Tigers and Lion from their den and keep the woods happening with the activities of its residents, creating fabulous views for your safaris. These months are idle for your picnics, trekking and camping as well.
