Bhitarkanika situated at a distance of 130kms from Bhubaneswar, on the eastern coast of India. Bhitarkanika is spread over 650sq kms with a forest cover of 380kms including the mangrove forest of 115 sq kms notified as a sanctuary in 1975.

The core area of 145sq kms declared as the National park in 1998. Surrounded by the river Brahmani, Baitarani and Dhamara and criss crossed by several creeks Bhitarkanika presents a unique environment and ecological wonder.

Bhitarkanika is the natural habitat of the largest population of estuarine crocodile and Olive Ridley sea Turtles and other wild creatures like King Cobra, Pythons, wild pigs Rhesus Monkey, Sambars, Spotted Deer, Water Monitor Lizards, etc.


Day 01 : Early morning Drive from Bhubaneswar to chandbali (Bhadrak). Entry point to Bhitarkanika National Park. Arrival at Chandbali board on Boat for Bhitarkanika. Cruising inside different creeks to spot salt water crocodile, water monitor lizards and other reptiles (Night Halt- Dangamala F.R.H.).

bhitarkanika-national-parkDay 02 : Early morning Nature walks. After breakfast visiting to Shikar Kothi, (Hunting Tower), Bagagahana (Bird Sanctuary) and EKAKULA Sea beach Gahirmatha for olive ridley. (Night Halt- Dangamala F.R.H).

Day 03 : Early morning Nature Walk. After breakfast board on Boat for Chandbali. Back to Bhubaneswar. In time Transfers to Railway station/Air port for connect train/flight to further destination.

Nature tour ends.

Necessary entry permits required from the forest Department to visit and stay inside the Park.

Bhitarkanika can be approached by four main entry points by registered Boat from CHANDABALI, JAYANAGAR, KHOLA & GUPTI.

National Park closed for seven days in second week of January each year for Crocodile census & 15th May till 31st July for Crocodile nesting and breeding.
