Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary

Located close to the boundary of Chhatisgarh state on the western fringe of Odisha(Orissa) in the newly created Nuapada district, this sanctuary covers 600 sq. km. It was declared as Sanctuary in the year 1983. Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary adjoins the Sitanadi and Udanti sanctuaries of Chhattisgarh. Eleven beautiful waterfalls and seasonal streams which dry out during summer leaving few deep pools of water. Godhus water fall having total height of 30mtr. The fall is verymuch energetic in rainy and winter season and get dried in summer. In the down a temple of Lord siva is present.

Bija(Pterocarpus marsupium), Teak(Tectona grandis), Sisoo (Dalbergia latifolia), Asan (Terminalia tomentosa), Dharua (Anogeisus latofolia), Mahul (Madhuca indica), Char (Buchnania lanzan), Mundi (Mitragyna parviflora), Kumbhi (Carreya arborea), Moi (Lannea coromondelica), Haldu (Adina cordifolia), Bahada (Terminalia bellerica), Harida (Termialia chebula), Amla (Emblica officinalis), Sandal wood (Santalum album), Sidha (Lagestroemia parviflora), Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna), Ban-khajur (phoenix acaulias).

By Air

Nearest Airport is Raipur. It is around 200 KM from Nuapada and if you get down at Bhubaneswar, it is around 600 KM away.

By Train

Nearest Railway station is at Nuapada and if you are coming by an express, other than Raipur Bhubaneswar Express, then you need to get down at Khariar Road.

By Road

You need to take a turn at Komna, which is connected to NH 217 and will have to cover 35 KM by a Jeep or Tata Sumo. It is around 150 KM away from NH6 i.e. from Aarang Nadi Mod in Chhatisgarh and Sohela in Odisha(Orissa).
